And now there are two

So, it's probably not a good idea to start a blog right before Halloween craziness and your birthday.  I wanted to try and post something most days, but I was far too busy.

Busy doing what?  Admiring my new pair of shoes.

I got a very unexpected, very generous, and exciting birthday gift from a friend this year.  I have lusted over these shoes for about five years now, but never bought them because they were expensive and I couldn't justify the purchase.  I always promised myself that I would buy a pair when I sold my first book, or when I hit big in the lottery.  Since, neither of those things have happened, but I still hope one will, the shoes were just a dream.   And now they are mine.

Funny thing about the shoes, I think a lot of women have the same dream, because they get talked about everywhere I go.  It's kind of awesome and amazing that other women are as excited as I am.  It makes me feel like I'm part of a little club.

It was a pretty amazing birthday.  I got a new wedding ring (to replace the one I lost), and my incredible theatre friends recreated a Glee number for me, and I received a bunch of gifts that people really thought about and selected especially for me.  It wasn't about the money people spent on me, it was about the sentiment behind it.  I felt special and loved and I think everyone should feel that way on their birthday.

I pledge to try and make everyone I care about feel just as special and just as loved on their birthday.  I may not be able to buy them expensive shoes, but I will try and do something that makes them feel the way I did on my birthday.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to admiring my shoes.
